Barbara Persing Longarm Quilting Classes


Award winning longarm quilter Barbara Persing will be teaching longarm machine quilting classes at Olde City Quilts. You may recognize Barbara from the StrataVarious trunk show and workshop that recently took place at our shop. In addition to designing quilt patterns with her sister, Mary, Barbara has her own longarm quilting business and is the author of Listen to Your Quilt.

Beginner Longarm Quilting
Introduction to free motion machine quilting. Learn how to free motion machine quilt without a stich regulator, rulers or marking your quilt. This class will introduce you to allover fill designs that you can use to begin to develop your own catalog of designs. You will see how the fabrics in a quilt can become the inspiration for your designs.

Well known for hosting popular quilting shows, Alex's personal mission is not only to share her love of quilting with anyone who will listen, but to educate and encourage those interested in quilting as clearly and simply as possible, so quilting can continue to be handed down from generation to generation.

Alex has a trunk full of stories to tell about quilts and her adventures in quilting. You won't want to miss this fun chance to meet Alex Anderson!

Bernina Block of the Month


Do you want to learn about and take full advantage of your Bernina sewing machine’s capabilities? While making the Stitcher’s Garden quilt you will explore many functions of your machine, including decorative stitches, use of twin and wing needles, bobbin work, piping, and couching. Many Bernina feet and accessories will be highlighted, including pintucking, circular attachment, cording, rolled hem, etc. This 10 month Block of the Month is designed for the Bernina 3 series and up.

Class Fees: $35 for the first month (to include your choice of white or black background fabric), $15 for months 2-10. Each month includes a pattern, fabric for 1-2 blocks, and a class to learn the techniques. Finishing kit will be available for $45 to include sashing, borders and binding.

Class Dates: May 18th, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. or  May 20th, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.

 

Embroidery Block of the Month




Create a wall hanging or quilt using Hoop Sisters unique technique of combining embroidery with piecing and quilting to make perfect quilt blocks in the hoop of your embroidery machine.


The Wall Hanging is a Four Month Program and the Quilt is a Ten Month Program.


It's not too late to begin this extraordinary Block of the Month project at OCQ!!!
