Beginner Longarm Lessons


This 3-hour lesson, taught by Olde City Quilts staff, will give you the basic knowledge to begin hand guided machine quilting. Lessons are $60.00 per student, 3 - 4 students per class. Each student operates their own machine. Other arrangements can be made in order to accommodate groups or a larger number of friends. All supplies are included in the lesson fee. Once you've taken a lesson, you can rent one of our longarm machines and start finishing your projects!

Longarm Quilting Intro to Computerized Quilting


This 2-hour lesson, taught by Olde City Quilts staff, will give you the basic knowledge to begin computerized quilting. Lessons are $60.00 per student, up to 5 students per class.  The Beginner Long Arm lesson is a prerequisite for this class to gaining knowledge of loading and advancing your quilt and bobbin care.  This class is strictly computer work in how to set up Edge to Edge patterns for your quilt, advancing each row and restarting with each bobbin change.

Fill the Spaces- All designs used in this class are free motion
and require no marking. We will work with squares, triangles, sashing and boarders, moving from one block to another without stopping. This is just the first step to custom quilting.

Straight Line Design- This is a 4-hour, hands-on class for both the beginner and experienced free motion quilter.

Easy Edge to Edge 1- Flowers, leaves, squiggles, lines, the possibilites are limitless. Use your favorite motifs to create edge to edge designs for your quilts. These designs are simple and this class is an introduction to creating custom allover designs.

Intro to Free Motion- Learn how to free motion machine quilt without a stitch regulator, rulers or marking your quilt.  Starting with three basic shapes, learn fills that you can then develop into your own designs.  Mastering these shapes will pave the way for unlimited designs.

Feathers, Feathers, Feathers- There are many kinds of feathers and this class will introduce you to many of them, from traditional to heirloom and fanciful.  We will place feathers in borders, blocks, and triangles as well as creating an all over feather meandering.  Most feathers will be created with free motion, but you will also see how to use a stencil and pounce chalk as well as marking some general reference points.
